The Coldingham (Edgar's Wa') stone illustration

This small upstanding stone has one side deeply carved to form a cross with a wheel. It has been dated to the 8-10th C. It was found about the middle of the last century at Edgar's Wa' which was an outside wall of the medieval refectory at Coldingham Priory. The wall was likely rebuilt after Cromwell's bombardment in 1650 to form some domestic building. This stone at present has not been located but it may be in the collection of the Berwickshire Naturalists' Club in Berwick library.
